TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN, is seeking a Medical/Surgical Oncology Nurse Manager to lead the 4 North unit, guiding patient-centered care with clinical excellence and evidence-based practice.

Lead staffing, mentor bedside nurses, and drive performance improvement while collaborating across disciplines to advance oncology outcomes and staff development in a high-acuity service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN licensure in Tennessee or compact state.
• BCLS required.
• ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred at hire or within 1 year.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience; 4 years clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Med/Surg Oncology (4 North) unit to ensure high-quality patient-centered care.
• Oversee staffing, interviewing, hiring and training of new staff.
• Maintain unit workflow with appropriate staffing levels.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to improve patient care delivery.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Med/Surg Oncology (4 North) Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required (or must be obtained within 2 years of hire); Master’s in Nursing preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience required; 4 years of related clinical experience strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• BCLS required.
• Certification in area of specialty preferred.
• ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred at hire or within 1 year of hire.
