Summary
We are recruiting for one Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing). This position is located in the Sterile Processing Service at James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx NY. It is a full performance level MST position involving receiving and reprocessing reusable medical equipment for various hospital departments for scheduled or emergency procedures.
Duties
Receives a variety of reusable medical equipment from different hospital units, sorts and disassembles it, and determines the appropriate cleaning and sterilization methods according to manufacturer instructions. Inspects, assembles, and packages equipment for sterilization, performs operational checks, and maintains documentation. Ensures all supplies are stocked and maintains SOPs for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes.
Tasks
Work Schedule: M-F, 11am to 7:30pm. Not virtual or telework available.
Requirements: U.S. citizenship, background check, English proficiency, and compliance with health and vaccination requirements.
Qualifications: Six months of relevant experience or one year of health care-related education, with specific knowledge of sterilization procedures and equipment. GS-6 level experience and knowledge are required for full performance.
Preferred Experience: Minimum two years in sterile processing, capable of independent work, with instrument tracking system experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Standing, lifting, pushing carts, and fine dexterity required.
Education: Recognized U.S. accredited education; foreign education requires equivalency verification.
