Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston seeks a Director of Medical Staff Services to lead the Medical Staff Services Department and supervise the Medical Staff Assistant. The role provides administrative support to the organized Medical Staff and leadership, ensuring compliance with bylaws and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree in Medical Staff Services, three years in a Medical Staff office, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Medical Staff Services or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Three (3) years in a Medical Staff office with progressive responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and effective meeting management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises the activities of the Medical Staff Assistant, including hiring, training and scheduling.
  • Manages and maintains documentation of all minutes to ensure compliance with bylaws and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains official medical staff documents, including policies, bylaws and rules.
  • Collaborates with physician leadership to ensure bylaws, rules and regulations meet standards of regulatory agencies and community standards.
  • Ensures all incoming applicants meet Medical Staff Bylaws requirements.
  • Generates reports and reviews information related to reappointments and informs leadership of pertinent information.
  • Develops orientation programs for Medical Staff Officers and new physicians.
  • Maintains policy and procedure manuals for the Medical Staff Office.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors and adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budgetary specs.

Job Summary Position responsible for direction, management, development and organization of the Medical Staff Services Department. This position manages and directs the Medical Staff Assistant. The position provides administrative support to the organized Medical Staff, officers of the Medical Staff and Administration of Memorial Hermann.

Preferred
  • Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
  • Credentialing or Hospital Experience.
  • Skills: Microsoft Office, Zoom Workplace, Web Conference applications, MSOW.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Medical Staff Services or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Three (3) years in a Medical Staff office with progressive responsibilities. Excellent organizational and communication skills and effective meeting management skills. Proficient in the use of multiple software programs including but not limited to: MS Office and desk top publishing.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Directs and supervises the activities of the Medical Staff Assistant, including, hiring, training, assigning work, counseling, timely distribution of monthly mailings to the medical staff, ER Call Schedules and other communications to the medical staff, as well as the coordination of CME offerings.
  • Manages and maintains the documentation of all minutes to ensure compliance with the Bylaws and Rules of the Medical Staff and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains official medical staff documents, including Master Copy of Medical Staff Policies & Procedures, Bylaws and Rules of the Medical Staff meeting attendance records.
  • Collaborates with physician leadership to ensure Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations meet standards of regulatory agencies, as well as community standards.
  • Ensures all incoming applicants meet the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, sections and services for which they are applying.
  • Responsible for generating reports and reviewing information related to reappointments to the Medical Staff, and ensuring the appropriate Medical Staff Leadership is informed of all pertinent information.
  • Develops and implements orientation programs for the Medical Staff Officers and new physicians to the staff; as well as ensures that new medical staff members are adequately oriented to the facility.
  • Develops and maintains policy and procedure manuals for the Medical Staff Office.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
