Hartford HealthCare is actively looking for a Medical Staff Coordinator to join their dynamic team within the Medical Staff Office in Meriden, CT.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Medical Staff Services (MSS), the Medical Staff Coordinator performs functions related to credentialing and privileging of practitioners, ensuring compliance with hospital bylaws, policies, and accreditation standards such as TJC, CMS, and DPH. Responsibilities include managing applications, reappointments, onboarding, and maintaining accurate, confidential medical staff records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage initial application process, conduct quality reviews, verify credentials, and prepare files for review by the Credentials Committee.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes and prepare bios for MEC.
  • Handle reappointments, verify credentials, and flag concerns for review.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and assist in accreditation preparations.
  • Oversee expirables like licenses, DEA, malpractice, and certifications.
  • Assist with FPPE and OPPE processes.
  • Maintain organized, confidential medical staff files and ensure data accuracy in systems like ECHO.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in hospital medical staff services or related administrative roles.
  • National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required; if not certified, certification must be obtained within 1 year.
  • Flexible schedule for early morning or evening meetings.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a mature attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects efficiently.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for contact with physicians, executives, and legal professionals.
