Job summary

Advent is seeking a Medical Simulation Operator to support high-fidelity clinical training in St. Paul, MN. The role operates simulation systems, configures equipment, and maintains realism for aeromedical and critical care scenarios.

Responsibilities include setting up environments, managing LMS, adjusting scenarios in real time, and providing technical support to trainees and trainers. On-site work typical Monday‑Friday with limited hours per month; requires safety training and NDA.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Simulation Operator credential required.
  • BLS-HCP certification current.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience in military or civilian healthcare.
  • Minimum 1 year programming human patient simulators (Laerdal, Nasco, iSimulate, LLEAP).
  • Experience with course development and instructional methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency with word processing and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of Air Force standards and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in low-light simulation environments.
  • AT Level I training completed prior to start.
  • Ability to sign NDA prior to performance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate high-fidelity patient simulators to support critical care and aeromedical training.
  • Configure, program, troubleshoot, and operate simulation equipment and task trainers.
  • Set up and recover simulation environments before/after training events.
  • Operate LMS to monitor learner performance during simulations.
  • Adjust scenarios in real time to maintain realism and training objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise for medical education and simulation initiatives.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide input for learner assessment.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Support logistics and ensure equipment readiness for training events.

Position: Medical Simulation Operator

Location: St. Paul, MN (On-site)

Schedule: Approximately 4 days per month (32-40 hours/month; up to 480 hours annually)

Work is typically scheduled Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, and is coordinated around the class schedule. Monthly hours may increase by mutual agreement to support mission requirements.

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Simulation Operator.
  • Current Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a military or civilian healthcare setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience programming human patient simulators, including Laerdal, Nasco, iSimulate, and LLEAP systems.
  • Experience with course development and instructional methodologies.
  • Knowledge of military trauma clinical skills, procedures, and Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of applicable Air Force standards, military policies, and department procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in low-light, high-volume simulation environments that replicate aeromedical evacuation missions.
  • Completion of Antiterrorism Awareness Level I (AT Level I) training prior to beginning work.
  • Ability to provide a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the start of performance.
Highly Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience with audiovisual systems, moulage creation and application, hyper-realistic simulators, and task trainers.
  • Additional related experience in medical simulation or healthcare education.
Responsibilities
  • Operate high-fidelity patient simulator systems to support critical care and aeromedical training programs.
  • Configure, program, troubleshoot, and operate simulation equipment, task trainers, virtual reality trainers, and computerized human patient simulators.
  • Set up, manage, and recover simulation environments before and after scheduled training events.
  • Operate and support the Learning Management System (LMS) used to monitor and evaluate learner performance during simulation exercises.
  • Adjust simulation scenarios in real time based on participant actions while maintaining clinical realism and training objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise to support advanced medical education and simulation-based learning initiatives.
  • Evaluate team performance during pre- and post-simulation activities and provide performance input to support learner assessment.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and provide basic troubleshooting support for simulation equipment used by cadre members.
  • Support operational logistics related to simulation equipment and training events while ensuring equipment readiness and functionality
