Job summary

Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Medical Scribe to assist physicians by observing and transcribing medical information during patient encounters and supporting the documentation process throughout and after visits.

The role involves transcribing histories into the electronic medical record, reconciling medications and allergies, and ensuring accurate documentation. Some front/back-office duties such as scheduling may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by the American Association for Medical Transcription preferred.
• Six (6) months experience as a Medical Scribe or related experience and/or training required.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes history and other relevant medical information into the electronic medical record.
• Reviews and reconciles patient’s medication and allergy lists.
• Documents patient encounters based on physician dictation.
• Performs clerical tasks including encounter reconciliation and notifying physician if documentation is incomplete.
• Maintains physician-to-physician written communication including corrections, mailing, and faxing final drafts promptly.
• May assist with front office or back office tasks such as appointment scheduling and rooming patients.
