Summary

The scribe is present during a provider's clinical services and documents in the medical record on behalf of the provider, including what was said and performed during the service.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain a safe environment for patients, self, and others.
2. Enter data into the electronic medical record (EMR), ensuring completeness and accuracy.
3. Gather and document clinical information from current or historical records under the provider's direction.
4. Assist with tasks such as medication reconciliation, documenting procedures, and facilitating communication (messaging providers, scanning, printing, or copying medical records).
5. Complete annual HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and scribe training requirements and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification: Required CMA experience.

Preferred Experience: Medical terminology education, CNA, CMA, or other medical experience.
