Summary

The scribe is present during a provider's clinical services, documenting in the medical record what was said and the activities performed by the provider.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a safe environment for patients, self, and others.
2. Enter data into the electronic medical record accurately and completely.
3. Gather and document clinical information from current or historical records under the provider's direction.
4. Assist with tasks such as medication reconciliation, documenting procedures, and facilitating communication (messages to providers, scanning, printing, or copying medical records).
5. Complete annual HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and scribe training requirements and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Other Information:

Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Required CMA experience.

Professional Experience Requirements: Medical terminology education, CNA, CMA, or other medical experience required.

Preferred Medical Scribe Experience

Experience with medical terminology, CNA, CMA, or related medical fields is preferred.
