Job summary

Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. seeks a Medical Scribe to support a provider during shifts by documenting patient encounters in the EHR. The role emphasizes accurate transcription of history, exam findings, and procedures to help maintain clinic efficiency.

Ideal candidates have outpatient experience, MSCA T (preferred), and strong typing, confidentiality, and communication skills. This on-site position collaborates with nursing and front desk staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• MSCAT certification after 200 hours on clinic floor preferred.
• Previous outpatient clinic or doctor’s office experience.
• Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology coursework.
• Ability to type 45–60 WPM.
• Excellent customer service, positive attitude, and teamwork.
• Maintain confidentiality; pass drug screen, physical and background check.
• Effective verbal, listening and communication skills; CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe patient history and physical during visits.
• Document provider and nurse procedures in the EMR.
• Use EHR templates to ensure accurate encounters and data collection.
• Transcribe consultations with family and/or provider.
• Complete patient chart with labs, X-rays, and other results.
• List diagnoses, follow-up instructions and prescriptions.
• Assist nursing and front desk staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
