Job summary

The Jordan-Young Institute in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Medical Scribe to support an orthopedic physician during daily visits and to record encounter details for coding purposes, generating a master document of each visit. The scribe does not provide direct patient care.

Ideal candidates have medical office experience, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy. Familiarity with EMR, clear communication skills, and accuracy in a fast-paced environment are

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with EMR systems is a plus.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced orthopedic setting.

Responsibilities

• Record details of the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, physical examination, comorbid conditions, medications and allergies.
• Record physical exam findings, including positives, negatives and abnormalities.
• Document the physician's assessment and plan at the appropriate level of coding.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Scribe with speed and accuracy will assist the orthopedic physician by accompanying him during daily office visits to record all aspects of the encounter based on the requisite level of coding, and by generating a master electronic document that entails the office visit\'s details. The scribe does not directly perform patient care.
You will also:

• Record details of the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, comorbid conditions, medications, and allergies.


• Record details of the physical exam including pertinent positives, negatives, and noted abnormalities.


• Record sufficient information in the physician\'s assessment and plan based on the level of complexity.

We\'d love to hear from you if you have:

• Medical office experience preferred.


• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.


• Proficient knowledge in musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.


• Knowledge in general medical terminology, conditions, and interactions


• Familiarity with EMR is a plus.


• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
