Job summary

Golden State Orthopedics & Spine is seeking a Full Time Medical Scribe to join our team in California. This entry-level opportunity trains you to support clinicians, document patient encounters, and navigate the EHR system as part of a busy orthopedic practice.

We value accurate data entry, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. Prior scribe experience is required, with strong typing and medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (Preferred).
• Typing skills and comfortable with data entry.
• Strong familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe all patient encounters into the EHR for the assigned physician, PA, or NP.
• Enter patient information and required fields into the EHR system.
• Record and capture billable events during patient encounters.
• Send prescriptions and refills to pharmacies as needed.
• Communicate referral requests and coordinate with staff.
• Prep exam and treatment rooms and retrieve medical records.
• Place orders as directed by the provider.
• Collaborate with staff to meet department goals and optimize workflow.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

About the Role

We are looking for a Full Time Medical Scribe to join our team. This is the perfect opportunity for graduating students to gain practical experience needed to apply to medical, physician assistant, nursing, or physical therapy schools. No prior experience needed. We will train.

What You'll Do

• Transcribing all patient encounters into EHR system for assigned physician, PA, or NP
• In-taking patient and posting all required fields into EHR system
• Capturing and recording all billable events during patient encounters
• Sending prescriptions and refills to pharmacies as needed
• Communicating referral requests
• Prepping exam and treatment rooms
• Retrieving medical records
• Placing orders as directed by the provider
• Working closely and communicating well with all staff to ensure all department goals are met while optimizing patient workflow
• Additional duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

Education:

• High school diploma or GED certificate (Preferred)

Experience :

• Medical Scribe Experience: 2 years (Required)
• Typing: 1 year (Preferred)
• Medical Terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
• EHR/EMR systems, NextGen (Preferred)
