We have an immediate need for a polished and skilled Medical Scribe at our North Austin Clinic for full-time employment that is looking for a career in healthcare (PreMed). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, a strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a demanding environment. This position requires a strong work ethic, honesty, punctuality, reliability, and commitment.
Responsibilities:
- Record the details of a patient’s exam – this may include their prior clinical history (Including but not limited to past interventional procedures, history and physical, pertinent surgeries, prior imaging, lab tests, and physical therapy), current complaints, diagnoses, procedures performed, and medical orders given (including prescriptions, physical therapies, surgeries, and tests).
- Be present to document the physician’s conversations with family members or consultations with other healthcare providers as able.
- Accurately and thoroughly document/enter post-exam data into the EHR including the results of imaging or lab work so the physician has all the necessary data to make treatment decisions. Return all dictated reports, either printed or electronic format, for provider’s review and signature.
- Ensure all clinical data, lab or other test results are recorded accurately in the medical record.
- Serves as the direct line of communication for internal and external sources.
- Assist provider in maintaining systems to track patient compliance.
- Quickly assimilate new regulation requirements into processes and procedures.
- Proofread and edit all provider’s medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with clinical support team.
- Screen incoming calls and correspondence and respond independently when possible.
- Help support corporate Quality/Compliance Assurance initiatives as requested by the VP of Regulatory Compliance.
- Communicate orders and discharge instructions from provider to on-site RN, MA, or CNA.
- Participate and maintain the safety and dignity of the patient.
- Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
- Makes photocopies, fax documents and performs other administrative functions as needed.
- Driving may be required when working in multiple clinics.

Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- This position is reserved for those working towards a career in health care (pre-med or other health-related postgraduate fields).
- Experience working as a medical scribe is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and human anatomy is preferred.
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment and maintain attention to detail to accurately document the patient encounter.
- Computer and technology proficiency.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute or above.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Excellent observation, listening, interpersonal, and clarification skills to interact positively and productively with team members and patients.
- Must have strong desire to learn.
