Join our dedicated eye care team as a Medical Scribe, where you'll play a key role in supporting ophthalmologists by accurately recording patient encounters and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This position is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare, especially those pursuing careers in medicine or eye care.
Key Responsibilities
- Document physician-patient interactions in real time during eye exams.
- Assist with patient flow and maintain awareness of appointment status.
- Support the ophthalmologist during exams by anticipating needs and preparing documentation.
- Ensure patients understand physician instructions and follow-up care.
- Prepare prescriptions for glasses, contacts, or medications as directed.
- Complete necessary forms and assist with check-out procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Adapt to the preferences and workflow of different physicians.
- Perform additional administrative or clinical support tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in a clinical or ophthalmic setting is advantageous.
- Certification as an ophthalmic scribe is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, NextGen) and medical terminology.
- Strong typing, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role is based in a professional medical office. It requires frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and staff. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and have the visual acuity necessary for detailed documentation tasks.
