Job summary

Hannibal Regional is seeking a Medical Scribe to accurately document the physician dictated patient history, physical exam, procedures, lab results, diagnoses and related encounter information in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus experience or coursework in medical terminology, strong communication skills, and proficient computer skills to learn dictation and charting software.

Job description

The Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately documenting the physician dictated patient history (including family, social and past medical), physical exam, as well as procedures, lab and test results, diagnoses and any other information pertaining to the patients encounter in a timely manner.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required


• College level education including health or medical related courses preferred


• Proficiency in medical terminology, completion of medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience required


• Proficient computer skills required including the ability to learn various software programs for dictation and charting


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to actively listen, observe and document events accurately and clearly


• Knowledge of proper English, spelling and grammar
