Job summary

Hannibal Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Scribe to accurately document physician-patient encounters, including history, physical exams, procedures, lab results and diagnoses, in real time for efficient charting.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, preference for college-level health courses, strong knowledge of medical terminology, proficient computer skills, and excellent written and verbal communication to capture events clearly and completely.

Job description

The Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately documenting the physician dictated patient history (including family, social and past medical), physical exam, as well as procedures, lab and test results, diagnoses and any other information pertaining to the patients encounter in a timely manner.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• College level education including health or medical related courses preferred
• Proficiency in medical terminology, completion of medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience required
• Proficient computer skills required including the ability to learn various software programs for dictation and charting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to actively listen, observe and document events accurately and clearly
• Knowledge of proper English, spelling and grammar
