The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when needed, and performing health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger stick to obtain hematocrit and total protein levels.
- After training, educate new donors about therapeutic products, screening, tests, appointment system, fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure all donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
- Register applicants and transfer donors as trained and needed.
- Answer phone calls and direct callers appropriately.
- Monitor donors during and after pheresis for reactions and notify staff if needed.
- Report donor flow issues to the Group Leader or Supervisor.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure supplies are available. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas as needed.
- Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- At least three months in a clerical or customer service role, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting, or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Observe equipment and interact with customers.
- Stand and walk frequently, up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and have manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Expose to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
