Medical Screener - Reception Technician (Customer Service)

Job Description Summary: Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist qualified donors in completing screening processes, including health history assessment, medical questions, and health screening procedures (blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature, finger stick for hematocrit and protein levels).
2. Educate new donors on plasma products, screening process, tests, policies, nutrition, and answer donor questions.
3. Register applicants and transfer donors as needed after training.
4. Answer phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
5. Monitor donor reactions during/after pheresis and notify staff.
6. Report donor flow issues to supervisors.
7. Accurately record donor data in electronic systems following SOPs.
8. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
9. Maintain clean work environment and ensure supplies are available.
10. Follow HSE and OSHA policies, promote safety.
11. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
12. Cross-train in other areas as needed.
13. Possibly use bilingual skills depending on organizational needs.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three months experience in clerical or customer service, preferably in medical/health environment or equivalent education/experience.
• Basic math skills.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to follow instructions and guidelines.
• Visual and verbal communication skills.
• Stand/walk frequently, perform manual tasks, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Fast-paced environment with exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, blood pathogens.
• Wear PPE as required, work overtime as needed.
