Job description

Medical Screener - Reception Technician (Customer Service)

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with SOPs, including assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screenings like blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature, and finger sticks for hematocrit and protein levels.
2. After appropriate training, educate new donors on therapeutic products, screening process, health tests, appointment system, fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information, ensuring timely and professional responses to questions.
3. Register applicants and transfer donors as trained and operational needs dictate.
4. Answer phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
5. Monitor donors for reactions during or after donation and notify staff if needed.
6. Report donor flow issues to the Group Leader or Supervisor.
7. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system per SOPs.
8. Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
9. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure supplies are available, following HSE and OSHA policies to promote safety.
10. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
11. May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
12. Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your skills and experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum three months experience in clerical or customer service, preferably in a medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Observe and operate equipment, communicate with customers.
• Stand and walk frequently, reach, bend, kneel, manual dexterity required.
• Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Potential exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, blood-borne pathogens.
• Wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
