The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when needed, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks. Perform finger sticks to obtain hematocrit and total protein levels.
- After appropriate training, educate new donors about therapeutic products made from plasma, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure all donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
- Register applicants and transfer donors as per training and operational needs.
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
- Monitor donors for reactions during or after the pheresis process and notify staff if needed.
- Alert the Group Leader or Supervisor about donor flow issues.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies are available. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas as needed.
- Possibly required to be bilingual, depending on organizational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- At least three months of experience in a clerical or customer service role, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting, or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
- Stand and walk frequently, up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and have manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Be exposed to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
