Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Records Specialist in Pittsburgh to manage discharge records, scanning and indexing documents, and releasing patient information in compliance with regulations. You will assist physicians, health center departments and outside agencies with requests for health information and ensure timely retrieval and accurate chart preparation.

This role requires strong attention to detail, data integrity, and teamwork within a fast-paced health information environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in health information management or related field preferred.
• Certified or degree from college, technical school, or related training is preferred.

• Assembles records in proper chart order and prepares for processing.
• Scans patient records and loose sheets to patient encounters.
• Indexes records to ensure scanning quality per procedure.
• Receives and processes requests for all chart information.

Performs release of patient information according to legislative requirements and policy and procedures

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accounts for records upon discharge, provides follow up to locate the records not received where applicable.(15%)
• Assembles (preps) records into proper chart order. (15%)
• Scans patient records and loose sheets to patient encounters. (15%)
• Indexes patient records to ensure scanning quality is performed according to procedure. (15%)
• Provides reception and processing of request for all information for all chart requests. (15%)
• Retrieve records and loose sheets from floors for processing. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• 6 months experience within HIM preferred and cross trained in two of the following functions: prepping, scanning or indexing, electronic medical record, data integrity functions, transcription outsourced duties, data entry and/or perform system testing.

Preferred

• Certificate or degree from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
