This position is in the Health Information Management (HIM) section at the VA St. Louis Health Care System (VASTLHCS) at Jefferson Barracks. The Technician (Coder-Outpatient) is skilled in classifying medical data from patient health records in hospital and physician-based settings, such as offices, clinics, and specialty centers.
Responsibilities include:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Telework available. Not a virtual position.
Requirements include: U.S. citizenship, proficiency in English, background/security checks, and participation in VA's vaccination program.
Qualifications: Experience or education in medical terminology, coding, and health records. Certification through AHIMA or AAPC preferred. Grade levels GS-4 to GS-8, with increasing responsibilities and KSAs.
