Job summary

Minnesota Direct Care and Treatment is seeking a Medical Records Technician for the HIMS team in Anoka. This temporary, full-time position supports data collection, validation, and reporting of clinical documentation to ensure timely, accurate data reporting.

The role requires completion of an accredited medical records program and RHIT eligibility, plus experience with EHR systems and MS Office. Work is Monday–Friday, day shift with a six-month end date after hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical records program from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility for accreditation with AHIMA or RHIT certification.
• Experience with data abstraction and reporting using EHR systems.

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our HIMS (Health Information Management Systems) Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Medical Records Technician! This position will be responsible for gathering, summarizing, and validating clinical documentation information from available data sources to ensure timely, complete, and accurate reporting data collection.

Primary Responsibilities

• Audit and collect data, and review for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare summaries of findings on data abstracted according to department procedures and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate the DCT client census reporting process across all programs so that accurate patient census records are maintained.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control checks and assist in the coordination and completion of departmental and facility‑wide audits.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a medical records program from an accredited institution AND eligibility for accreditation from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• Eligibility for accreditation means completion of required coursework and awaiting certification OR certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience translating, evaluating, and presenting data in a clear and concise manner.
• Experience working with various software including EHR and MS Office.
