Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency with typing and 10-key.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Scan patient records into the computer system with the highest level of quality.
  • Index documents to the correct patient and encounter with accurate naming.
  • Ensure each document is indexed to the correct patient/encounter and has the correct name.
  • Identify when to split and merge documents.
  • Insert pages/documents in the correct order; append as needed.
  • Perform quality reviews of prepping/scanning, indexing, and workflows.
  • Review assigned work daily and ensure timely processing.
  • Generate performance reports as needed.
  • Provide education to processing staff and assist with training.
  • Serve as a resource on forms, procedures, and workflow.
  • Maintain and clean high-speed scanners; troubleshoot errors.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of discharged accounts and ensure timely processing.
  • Support the hospital with additional related duties.
