Job summary

US Digestive Health is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to manage patient records, prepare charts, scan and file documents into the EMR, and fulfill record requests in a busy medical office.

The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and proficiency with EMR systems; responsibilities include answering calls and supporting the practice team. This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, no weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Sort, scan, and file all paper medical documents into appropriate EMR categories.
  • Document and fulfill patient medical record copy requests.
  • Fulfill medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys.
  • Obtain progress notes, test results, hospital records, and other correspondence as requested by providers.
  • Answer incoming phone calls for the medical records department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Practice Manager, Site Supervisor, or Team Lead.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Sort, scan, and file all paper medical documents into appropriate EMR categories.
  • Document and fulfill patient medical record copy requests.
  • Fulfill medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys.
