Job summary

Rockport Healthcare Services seeks a Medical Records Director to develop and maintain an efficient health record system compliant with Federal, State and community requirements. You will oversee health records, logs, and indices, coordinate physician documentation, and ensure regulatory release of information.

The role requires strong English, administrative skills, and prior health records experience, with supervisory capabilities preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• Strong written and verbal skills in English necessary for business.
• Administrative and organizational ability.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Previous experience in a health care setting.
• Prior health record experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Health Record System according to Federal, State and Community requirements.
• Participates in assigned meetings and inservices.
• Meets unit work goals through staff assignment to resident care needs.
• Monitors staff performance through coaching and recognizes effective performance or takes corrective action as needed.
• Initiates Resident Health Record and maintains logs and indices as required.
• Admission/Discharge Register and Master Patient Index maintenance.
• Disease Index, Medicare Log and Audit System management.
• Discharge Control Log, Chart Removal Log, and Resident Care Plan Log maintenance.
• Telephone Audit Log and other quality assurance audits.
• Coordinates physician documentation and orders.
• Maintains release of information within regulatory requirements (HIPAA/State).
• Prepares statistical reports and maintains filing systems.
