Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and hospital reimbursement.
• Ability to abstract, code, and verify data accurately.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code diagnoses, operations, and procedures from health records.
• Prepare statistical reports per regulations and hospital policy.
• Assign severity of illness ratings and supplemental codes.
• Collaborate with clinicians to ensure complete, current records.
• Maintain health record indexes and retrieval systems.
