Job summary

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is hiring a Medical Records Specialist Float to support the HIM team. The role involves managing HPF/MPF workflows, handling document imaging, and ensuring accurate birth certificate processing.

This positions you as a key contact when leaders are unavailable, with duties spanning record retrieval, scanning, and parental information gathering. Experience in healthcare records is preferred, and some certifications may be required or provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience preferred.
• Certification program for birth certificate processing may be required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve discharged medical records and reconcile them to ensure all records are accounted for.
• Facilitate retrieval/printing of medical records from storage and archive/retain documents that cannot be scanned.
• Assist with physician suspension process as needed.
• Prepare medical records for scanning and index documentation.
• Scan medical record documents and perform QC validation.
• Interact with parents to collect birth information and guide form completion.
