Job Summary

The Medical Record & Coding Auditor performs audits to oversee the quality and accuracy of coding and documentation across multiple specialties. The role requires effective communication, organization, and ongoing program development through training and process improvement.

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts medical record audits focusing on coding and compliance.
• Reviews documentation for E&M coding accuracy for outpatient and inpatient services.
• Coordinates with external audit vendors for timely and accurate audits.
• Provides feedback to providers and staff on audit results.
• Develops training materials and educates providers on documentation and coding standards.
• Maintains current knowledge of documentation guidelines and industry trends.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• Licensed in a clinical discipline or Certified Auditing Professional.
• At least 3 years of experience with ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CPT-4, and E&M codes.
• At least 2 years of healthcare auditing experience.

Alternatively:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Licensed or Certified in relevant discipline.
• 6+ years of experience with coding and auditing.
