The
Medical Receptionist provides reception and clerical services under the supervision of the practice manager and physician(s) for the patients and visitors of the practice. These services include billing, collections, referrals, appointments, patient contact, and general secretarial duties. Must be willing to travel within 30 minutes of your home and float to various locations.
This is an extremely fast-paced outpatient Neurology practiceHours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5pm and Friday 8am - 4:30pmWe have 19+ doctors and 65+ staff members- Medical experience preferred
ResponsibilitiesA day in the life of a
Medical Receptionist at
Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Receiving and directing all communication courteously and consistently, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and office policy. Answering phone calls promptly and directing appropriately.
- Greeting patients and visitors in a friendly, courteous manner. Making patients and visitors feel welcome and important.
- Assisting patients with the sign-in process and responding promptly to their needs.
- Supporting financial responsibilities, including verifying insurance, preparing deposits, and handling cash and credit transactions.
- Monitoring office supplies and equipment, notifying management when supplies are low, and initiating orders.
- Managing patient check-in and check-out processes, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, scheduling future appointments, and ensuring accuracy and friendliness.
- Promoting patient satisfaction through excellent service and communication.
- Maintaining organized filing and record systems, assembling new patient folders, and retrieving records as needed.
- Adapting work schedule to meet practice needs, working additional hours, and cross-covering when necessary.
- Serving as a pre-loader for the EMR system.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational standards.
QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing needs, and demonstrate accountability, teamwork, ongoing education, and patient focus.
- Willingness to travel to various locations.
Preferred:- Prior receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office.
- Epic software experience.
