Job summary

IHA is seeking a Medical Receptionist for our General Surgery practice. You are the first contact for patients, handling greeting, scheduling, insurance verification, copays, referrals, and registrations to ensure a smooth, welcoming experience.

The role supports providers with chart prep and communications in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Previous medical office experience and strong computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office or billing environment preferred.
• Strong keyboard and computer skills in a Windows environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients courteously in person or by phone and identify department.
• Answer calls promptly using appropriate scripts and route to the right staff.
• Process calls to transfer patients to the correct provider or staff member.
• Schedule patient appointments per department protocols to maximize productivity.
• Assist with patient registration, insurance verification, copay collection, referrals, prior authorizations and chart prep.

You will be responsible for a key front-desk role in a busy General Surgery practice, responsible for creating a smooth and welcoming experience for every patient. Handles appointment scheduling, insurance verification, copay collections, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient registration. Supports providers with chart prep, incoming and outgoing communications, and maintaining accurate records. A great fit for someone who is organized, personable, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

What You Will Do

• Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department.
• Answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting.
• Processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner.
• Schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred. Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
• Excellent keyboard skills. Requires proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products. Accuracy and dependability required.

Pay Range:

$17.50 - $23.80

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
