Summary

This float pool will service all of Mercy's Centers of Excellence, or specialty practices - from Oncology, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, and GI, to Urology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, and more. This is an ideal opportunity for motivated candidates wanting to learn and grow within a top Maryland hospital. Mercy sees patients at various hub site locations around the 695 corridor, where members of our float team would work, too.

This position may require travel to off-site/hub locations and support a variety of practices at different times.


Responsibilities

The Patient Service Associate is responsible for greeting and registering patients when they enter the practice. They play a pivotal role in ensuring a positive patient experience, as they are the first person a patient encounters when scheduling an appointment or arriving at the office.

This Patient Service Associate is expected to go to all of our Mercy locations: downtown, Overlea, Reisterstown, Lutherville, Glen Burnie, Hunt Valley, Annapolis, and Columbia.

The Patient Service Associate is responsible for all front desk operations, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling patients
  • Answering phones
  • Scanning medical records
  • Triage patient phone calls for severity/importance
  • Collection of insurance information and verification of benefits
  • Charge entry and payment posting

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in a Medical Office is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Effective communication and the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public
  • Flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as part of a team
  • Adaptability to the changing needs of the organization, its patients, and the market
  • Active contribution to a positive, congenial working environment
