Job summary

Faculty Physicians Inc. is seeking a Medical Practice Representative II-OB/GYN to handle front desk duties at our Maryland OB/GYN office. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and cashiering while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualified candidates will have a HS diploma or GED, 2–3 years medical office experience, familiarity with basic accounting, and proficiency with PC systems. IDX scheduling system experience is preferred.

Duties will include: scheduling appointments; completing demographic and insurance registration; maintaining registration accuracy; greeting visitors, patients, and staff promptly; answering phone calls in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; collecting co-payments from patients; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements Qualified applicants will possess: H.S. diploma or equivalent (GED); 2-3 years related medical office experience; general understanding of basic accounting principles; PC proficiency; strong customer service skills; accurate data entry skills; and knowledge of IDX or similar billing system and medical terminology is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Exhibits mid-level of skill in managing provider schedules and scheduling appointments accuratelyand effectively, including communicating patient responsibilities (obtaining a referral, bringing a copay, presenting identification and an insurance card at check in) and other events as part of thepractice pre-visit activities.
• Demonstrates the ability and understanding of FPI policy for cash collection and patient encounter,including collecting co-payments, outstanding balances and posting accurately and efficiently in GEFront Desk Credit Card Module.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of the revenue cycle as it relates to patient encounters and obtaining/verifying patient demographic and insurance information in order to receive payment forservices rendered.
• Schedules patients for evaluations, re-evaluations and treatment. Accepts referrals from social workers, discharge planners, physicians and physicians’ offices.
• Obtains and inputs all pre-authorization insurance and pertinent demographic information using IDX scheduling system.

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position.Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
