Job summary

Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute seeks a full-time onsite Medical Physicist to ensure safe and effective proton treatments. The role leads QA programs, oversees machine performance, and mentors staff while aligning with established radiotherapy protocols.

You will work with Eclipse/Varian and MOSAIQ to optimize treatment planning, delivery, and data flow across simulation, planning, and treatment. Strong communication, proactivity, and regulatory compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• ABR certification or eligibility required.
• Proton radiotherapy experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and interpret software outputs and measurements.
• Proactive with strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to manage projects and delegate tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to physics staff and ensure QA per TG protocols.
• Oversee daily/monthly/annual machine QA for proton therapy system.
• Train staff and students; maintain SOPs and documentation.
• Coordinate with Radiation Therapy, Dosimetry, and Physicians for treatment planning and delivery.
• Instruct in Eclipse/Varian workflows and data flow between simulation, planning and delivery.
• Support commissioning and maintenance of proton therapy equipment and QA programs.
• Contribute to safety and radiation protection activities and regulatory compliance.
• Report outcomes and drive process improvements in the department.
