Maryland Oncology Hematology in Rockville, MD, is seeking a Medical Physicist to ensure safe and precise delivery of radiation therapy. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and participate in implementing new treatment techniques within a growing radiation oncology practice.

Two clinics in Maryland and DC will guide responsibilities as you maintain QA, collaborate with oncologists and dosimetrists, and educate staff on best practices for safe treatments and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists.
• Provide technical expertise for the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
• Participate in implementing new treatment techniques and technologies such as VMAT, SBRT, and adaptive therapy.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all aspects of the radiation therapy process.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including NRC and state health departments.
• Provide education and training to staff on safe and effective use of equipment and techniques.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to ensure high-quality patient care.

The general pay scale for this position at MOH is $208,039.38 - $320,060.58 per year. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

SCOPE

Responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans. Responsible for the safety of patients and staff. May participate in clinical, research and educational duties. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Physicist to join our growing radiation oncology practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatments. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and participate in the implementation of the latest treatment techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists.
• Provide technical expertise and support for the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
• Participate in the implementation of new treatment techniques and technologies, such as VMAT, SBRT, and adaptive therapy.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all aspects of the radiation therapy process, including patient treatments, quality assurance checks, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the NRC and state health departments.
• Provide education and training to radiation therapy staff on the safe and effective use of radiation therapy equipment and techniques.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists, to ensure the highest quality patient care.

Clinic

• Currently two radiation oncology clinics across Maryland (Rockville & Silver Spring). This position will be primarily covering the Rockville clinic.
• Both clinics are equipped with a Varian Truebeam, Varian Halcyon, and GE CT Simulator.
• Identify Surface Guidance system
• HyperArc for SRS treatments
• ARIA EMR and Eclipse TPS
• RadFormation Suite of products (ClearCheck, ChartCheck, ClearCalc, AutoContour)
• Silver Spring clinic has Varian Bravos for HDR and treats radiopharmaceutical patients.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related field.
• Board certification or eligibility in therapeutic medical physics from the ABR.
• Experience working Varian equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with Eclipse treatment planning systems.
• Understanding of radiation safety principles and regulations.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
