Job summary

One Physics is seeking a highly skilled Therapy Medical Physicist to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. The ideal candidate will be trained in Radiation Oncology and collaborate with physicists, dosimetrists, and physicians to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required qualifications include a Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics, ABR Board Certification (or CAMPEP residency eligibility), and 2+ years of clinical therapy physics experience.

Qualifications

  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or CAMPEP residency eligibility.
  • 2+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly and monthly radiation measurements and yearly calibration.
  • Monitor Radiation Oncology equipment for safe and correct operation.
  • Maintain regulatory agency records and reports.
  • Analyze alternative treatment plans and supervise dosimetry planning.
  • Implement patient-based assessment and care according to development stage.

The Role

We are searching for a highly skilled Therapy Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of experts. Candidates must be well-trained in Radiation Oncology and able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Clinic Information
  • Location: Gaithersburg, MD, also supporting surrounding areas.
  • Clinic equipment: 2010 Elekta Synergy.
  • Patient volume: up to 15 patients per day, mostly prostate.
  • Treatment planning systems: Mosaiq/Pinnacle (transitioning to Eclipse).
  • Team: partner with several physicists, dosimetrist (onsite and remote), and physicians.
What You’ll Do
  • Perform weekly and monthly radiation measurements, as well as yearly calibration on all treatment units.
  • Monitor equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure it is functioning correctly and safely.
  • Maintain regulatory agency records and reports.
  • Analyze alternative treatment plans and supervise dosimetry treatment planning functions.
  • Implement assessment/treatment and care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
  • Perform additional duties, as needed.
What You’ll Need
  • Master’s Degree and/or PhD in Medical Physics.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board eligibility demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency in therapy physics.
  • 2+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations.
  • A willingness to go above and beyond for clients and fellow colleagues.
  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, and ownership of daily tasks and projects.
  • Ability to problem-solve by seeking, developing, and implementing viable solutions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use and move equipment.
  • Physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stopping, lifting, carrying.
  • Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to radiation therapy setting.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work.
