Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN, seeks a Medical Physicist to join the radiation oncology team. You will hold overall responsibility for the technical aspects of radiation treatments, provide therapeutic physics support, and consult on treatment delivery and equipment acceptance.

The role requires a Masters degree in medical physics or related field, with board certification or eligibility within three years, and about three years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in medical physics or related field is required.
• Board certified or board eligible with certification within 3 years in therapeutic medical physics by ABR/related board.
• 3 years of clinical experience strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Member of the radiation oncology team with overall responsibility for technical aspects of radiation treatments.
• Provide therapeutic medical physics support and consultative services for treatment delivery and equipment acceptance.

Provides therapeutic medical physics support, and consultative services for treatment delivery, and for equipment selection and acceptance, primarily for therapeutic equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and patients, and patient’s families, and to maintain strict confidentiality. The incumbent also must have a strong knowledge of radiation safety and must be able to work with the department supervisor and medical director.
