Responsibilities
- Supervise dosimetrists and radiation therapists in treatment planning
- Devise methods to apply laws and theories of physics to radiation medicine
- Provide 3-D conformal, IMRT, VMAT, and SBRT treatment planning
- Provide general medical physics support and regular clinical physics coverage
- Participate in commissioning, upgrades, repairs, acceptance testing, and monthly and annual QA of treatment equipment
- Perform clinical troubleshooting, initial and weekly chart checks, treatment planning consultation, and routine clinical physics responsibilities
- Participate in developmental efforts on clinical physics projects
- Collaborate with the main campus and other satellite facilities
- Generate records and correspondence related to quality control, quality assurance, calibration, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in initial, continuing, and final patient chart checks and treatment plan reviews
- Perform image fusion, dose calculation verifications, and special physics consultations as requested by physicians
- Keep abreast of new scientific methods and developments
Requirements
- Master's Degree Medical Physics required or Doctorate Medical Physics required
- Clinical experience of 2-3 years required
- Experience in treatment planning and planning systems, particularly RayStation (0-1 year preferred)
- Understanding of radiation physics, anatomy, physiology, clinical oncology, radiobiology, and radiation safety
- Knowledge of health care informatics, including resources, devices, and methods to acquire, store, and retrieve data
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good basic computer skills
- Ability to perform patient care responsibilities
- Ability to meet the stated physical requirements
