MaineGeneral invites applications for an Advanced Practice Provider in Medical Oncology in central Maine. The role emphasizes comprehensive patient assessment, treatment planning and close collaboration with oncologists and a multidisciplinary team.

This 32-hour-per-week position supports meaningful patient relationships, ongoing survivorship care, and education efforts within a compassionate cancer program in Augusta, Maine.

Qualifications

  • Obtaining comprehensive histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Evaluating new and established oncology patients.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory testing, diagnostic studies and imaging.
  • Assessing treatment response, symptoms and potential toxicities.
  • Developing diagnoses and clinical assessments with the oncology team.
  • Prescribing pharmacologic and other therapeutic interventions within scope of practice.
  • Providing patient and family education throughout treatment and survivorship.
  • Coordinating care with physicians, nurses and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Supporting continuity of care through personalized patient visits.

Job description

This 32-hour-per-week opportunity offers the chance to build meaningful relationships with patients and families while working alongside a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate cancer care close to home.

As an Advanced Practice Provider within Medical Oncology, you will play an integral role in the evaluation, treatment and ongoing management of patients throughout their cancer journey. Working collaboratively with our medical oncologists and the broader cancer care team, you will have the opportunity to practice with a high level of clinical involvement while providing the personalized care and continuity that are so important to oncology patients.

Your Role

Our APPs are valued members of the oncology care team and actively participate in developing and carrying out individualized plans of care. Responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining comprehensive histories and performing physical examinations
  • Evaluating new and established oncology patients
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory testing, diagnostic studies and imaging
  • Assessing treatment response, symptoms and potential treatment-related toxicities
  • Developing diagnoses and clinical assessments in collaboration with the oncology team
  • Prescribing pharmacologic and other therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
  • Providing patient and family education throughout treatment and survivorship
  • Coordinating care with physicians, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team
  • Supporting continuity of care through thoughtful, personalized and compassionate patient visits
