Qualifications

• Education - High School or equivalent.
• Training - Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant Training preferred. Cerner (CIS).
• Special Skills - Communication, Customer Service, Computer Skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Able to use office equipment and multi-task.
• Licensure - Current BLS certification only required in mental health departments

Responsibilities

• Assemble and maintain patient chart from admission to discharge.
• Process patient orders, exams and ancillary services accurately and timely.
• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Retrieve medications from pneumatic tube system and deliver to nurse or place in secure location.
• Assist nursing staff with retrieving medications for administration.
• Act as receptionist, greet patients, direct visitors, provide patient information to staff.
• Answer phones and respond to patient call lights; keep work area neat and orderly.
• Call physicians for consults and notify nursing staff of consultations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
