What you'll do

The Medical Office Assistant I serves as the first point of contact for patients within the Bassett Healthcare Network. This key role supports patient-centered care by providing excellent customer service, accurate communication, and administrative support to ambulatory care teams. Responsibilities include scheduling, registration, revenue collection, and supporting patient needs throughout their visit.

  • Reception/Call Handling: Greet patients courteously, answer calls promptly, relay messages accurately, and keep patients informed of delays.
  • Registration/Appointment Scheduling/Referrals: Collect and verify patient information, schedule appointments, process referrals, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Collection of Payment/Cash Handling: Explain payment dues, process payments accurately, and balance cash drawer daily.
  • Office Support/Cross Coverage/Confidentiality: Manage patient records, prepare correspondence, scan documents, and support office operations while maintaining confidentiality.
What we need from you

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; 2-year/Associate Degree preferred.

Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience required; customer service experience preferred.

Skills: Computer proficiency, customer service, time management, confidentiality, interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary work capacity, occasional lifting, reaching, and repetitive motions.

Travel: No travel required.

Pay Range
