Job summary

CPS Healthcare is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner for Maine correctional facilities. You will assess patients, provide comprehensive medical and behavioral health care, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based services.

This role offers competitive pay ($75–$80/hr), flexible schedules, and opportunities to practice across internal medicine, emergency medicine, and related areas within a corrections setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a facility background clearance.
  • Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Nurse Practitioner License (Required)
  • CPR Certification (Required)
  • Ability to commute to Boston

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients.
  • Obtain health histories and apply clinical knowledge to evaluate conditions.
  • Provide written assessments upon admission, during confinement, and at discharge.
  • Summarize data and make triage decisions communicated to care providers.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using approved protocols.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate providers within the Medical Department.
  • Consult with nurses, physicians, and correctional staff as needed.
  • Administer medications, including IV therapy, in accordance with physician orders.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and communicate results to ancillary departments.
  • Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered.
  • Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
  • Communicate patient information to staff, physicians, and department heads.
  • Identify and address existing or potential issues in patient care.
  • Recommend improvements in procedures, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with staff education and in-service training.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Adhere to CPS policies, state practice acts, and Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Participate in quality assurance and chart review processes.
  • Accept additional duties or shifts as assigned.
  • Follow all security rules and regulations.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a PRN Medical NP for our Maine correctional facilities.

Correctional Medicine offers the opportunity to practice internal and emergency medicine, detoxification, obstetrics and gynecology, and more. Providers are members of a supportive multidisciplinary team providing full-scale healthcare to the inmate population. We offer very competitive pay, excellent benefits, and flexible work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
