CPS Healthcare in Boston, MA is seeking a Medical Nurse Practitioner for Suffolk County House of Corrections. The role covers internal and emergency medicine, detox, and obstetrics among other duties, within a multidisciplinary team. Competitive pay and strong benefits are offered, with flexible schedules.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including IV therapy, as ordered by physician.
• Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Follow CPS policies, state practice acts, and Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Nurse Practitioner NP for Suffolk County House of Corrections in Boston MA. Correctional Medicine offers the opportunity to practice internal and emergency medicine, detoxification, obstetrics and gynecology, and more. Providers are members of a supportive multidisciplinary team providing full-scale healthcare to the inmate population. We offer very competitive pay, excellent benefits, and flexible work schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assess the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients.
• Obtain health histories and apply clinical knowledge to evaluate conditions.
• Provide written assessments upon admission, during confinement, and at discharge.
• Summarize data and make triage decisions communicated to care providers.
• Develop individualized treatment plans using approved protocols.
• Coordinate referrals to appropriate providers within the Medical Department.
• Consult with nurses, physicians, and correctional staff as needed.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy, in accordance with physician orders.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and communicate results to ancillary departments.
• Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered.
• Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
• Communicate patient information to staff, physicians, and department heads.
• Identify and address existing or potential issues in patient care.
• Recommend improvements in procedures, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with staff education and in-service training.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Adhere to CPS policies, state practice acts, and Code of Ethics for Nurses.
• Participate in quality assurance and chart review processes.
• Accept additional duties or shifts as assigned.
• Follow all security rules and regulations.

Schedule: 32 Hours per Week

Week 1: Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat

Week 2: Sun, Tues, Thurs, Fri

Salary:

$75 p/h

Requirements

Qualifications & Education:

• Must be able to pass a facility background clearance
• Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant: 3-5 years (Required)
• Nurse Practitioner License (Required)
• CPR Certification (Required)
• Ability to commute to Dedham

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
• Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
