Job summary

TemPositions Group of Companies connects top NYC law firms with experienced legal professionals. A Medical Malpractice Legal Assistant is sought to support a Senior Trial Partner in busy plaintiff-side litigation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in medical malpractice, with strong organization and the ability to coordinate with attorneys, clients, and staff. On-site Monday-Thursday and remote Fridays, direct hire, full-time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience, preferably in medical malpractice or plaintiff-side personal injury litigation.
• Candidates with some defense-side experience who demonstrate strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Support a Senior Trial Partner with a substantial medical malpractice caseload.
• Assist with the day-to-day management and progression of plaintiff cases.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients who have experienced serious injuries, loss of life, dismemberment, and other traumatic events.
• Understand and navigate the New York court system and NYSCEF.
• Maintain highly organized case files, calendars, deadlines, and litigation materials.
• Work closely with the firm’s calendar clerk and provide timely information needed for effective case management.
• Assist with case tracking and workflow using SmartAdvocate or similar case-management software.
• Coordinate with attorneys and other members of the legal support team.
• Help ensure cases move efficiently and nothing falls through the cracks.
• Learn and adapt to the firm's processes and procedures.
