The Opportunity

This role is designed for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom, deposition, and case strategy experience in a sophisticated medical malpractice defense practice, while working in a collegial environment that values mentorship, professional development, and sustainable long‑term growth.

Gfeller Laurie LLP is seeking an associate attorney with 3+ years of civil defense litigation experience to join its Healthcare and Professional Liability practice group in West Hartford, Connecticut. This is an opportunity to build sophisticated medical malpractice defense experience alongside two of Connecticut’s premier medical malpractice defense trial attorneys, while contributing to Department of Public Health investigations, pre‑suit claims, risk management matters, and active litigation.

Associates in this practice group are valued contributors with meaningful responsibility in day‑to‑day case management, client reporting, written discovery, fact and expert depositions, court appearances, trial preparation, and trials. They work closely with civil litigation partners and should be comfortable applying Connecticut practice rules and procedures. Strong analytical, organizational, research , and writing skills, along with a genuine interest in medical malpractice defense and medical and scientific issues, are essential.
