Job summary

Coverys in Michigan is hiring an Apprentice Underwriter to support underwriters in making underwriting decisions and to build foundational underwriting skills within a training platform.

The role involves risk evaluation, data analysis, guideline adherence, and collaboration with experienced underwriters to understand exposure and coverage strategies. A bachelor’s degree or related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Medical professional liability underwriting experience required.
• Willingness to complete CPCU or RPLU designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Risk evaluation: assist underwriters in reviewing risk and preparing submissions.
• Guideline adherence to underwriting policies and procedures.
• Data analysis using analytical tools to evaluate risk exposure and drivers of claims.
• Collaborate with underwriters and team members to understand exposure and provide coverage.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and communications.
