Job summary

Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, MI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform hematology, chemistry, microbiology and related analyses. You will handle specimens, operate instrumentation, and ensure accurate results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science, ASCP or eligible, and ability to perform high-complexity testing; strong attention to quality control and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science.
• Baccalaureate degree with major in Medical Technology or related science; post-degree internship preferred.
• Board certification or eligibility by ASCP, ASMT, HEW (HHS) or equivalent at the Medical Technologist level or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to perform high complexity testing as defined by CLIA 88’.

Responsibilities

• Operate current instrumentation.
• Perform manual testing.
• Perform STAT tests (CBC, PTT, Protime) within 30 minutes of receipt.
• Perform STAT tests (electrolytes, BUN, Creatinine, cardiac enzymes) within 45 minutes.
• Maintain quality control records and perform preventive maintenance.
• Train students and new personnel.
• Observe safety practices and follow hospital policies.
