Job summary

Vail Health in Colorado is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to collect and process moderate- and high-complexity tests, provide rapid and accurate results, and support physicians with data interpretation.

The role covers a broad range of laboratory areas including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology under supervision, with emphasis on instrument maintenance, data entry into LIS, QA/QI participation, and specimen handling.

Qualifications

• ASCP MLT certification is required.
• One year of experience in a high-complexity lab is preferred.
• Must possess computer skills to complete online learning, forms, and benefits enrollment within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform general tests in laboratory areas including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology under supervision.
• Maintain and calibrate lab instrumentation; perform preventative maintenance.
• Enter test data into LIS system and review for accuracy and completeness.
• Report data to Physicians, Infection Control, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Perform quality control, calibrations, and validations on test assays.
• Handle specimens and ensure proper storage and processing per regulations.
• Assist with training of lab assistants and waived testing personnel.
• Maintain competency and education in general lab practices.
