AVD Workforce Connect in Bloomington, IN is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform diagnostic tests and analyze biological samples in a clinical laboratory. You will collect, label, and process specimens, operate analyzers, and ensure high-quality results for patient care.

The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance, including proper documentation in LIS/EHR and collaboration with the lab team.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
MLT certification preferred.
Clinical lab experience preferred; new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

Collect, label, and process biological samples, including blood, urine, tissue, and other bodily fluids, following proper procedures to ensure the integrity of the samples.
Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation, separation, and dilution, depending on the type of test to be performed.
Ensure that all samples are handled with care and stored appropriately to prevent contamination or degradation.
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as analyzers, microscopes, and spectrophotometers.
Analyze test results and report findings to the Laboratory Supervisor, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or ordering physician in a timely and accurate manner.
Collaborate with the laboratory team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to testing procedures or equipment.
Document and report any deviations from standard procedures or quality control issues to the Laboratory Supervisor.
Maintain detailed records of specimen handling, equipment maintenance, and quality control activities in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
Follow established safety protocols and infection control guidelines to minimize the risk of exposure to hazardous materials.
Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps according to proper procedures and regulatory requirements.
Stay informed about and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations governing laboratory operations.
