Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT II) is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results. They perform tests authorized by the laboratory director, requiring skills aligned with their education, training, or experience. Under supervision, they follow all policies and perform tests according to standard operating procedures, working independently to ensure accurate results and records. The role demands a professional knowledge level to read and interpret test results used in diagnosis and treatment.

Essential Functions
  1. Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and record-keeping.
  2. Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing is conducted similarly to patient samples.
  3. Adhere to quality control policies, documenting all activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
  4. Follow corrective action policies when test systems deviate from performance standards.
  5. Identify issues affecting test performance or reporting, correcting them or notifying supervisors.
  6. Document all corrective actions taken.

Education
Associate's Degree in Laboratory Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology required.
Experience cannot substitute for education.
