Job description

Job Title: Program Director, Medical Laboratory Technology

Job Purpose: The Program Director for the Medical Lab Tech is responsible to the Dean of Health Sciences for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, direction of program faculty/staff, and overall effectiveness of the MLT program. This role also includes obtaining and maintaining NAACLS accreditation for the program.

Job Duties
Instructional Development
  1. Collaborate with the Advisory Committee to plan new and existing programs and courses.
  2. Assist in developing curricula for the Medical Laboratory Technology Program.
  3. Evaluate courses within the curriculum.
  4. Refine curricula for Medical Laboratory Technology courses.
Teaching Performance
  1. Teach assigned courses according to established syllabi.
  2. Provide high-quality instruction for students.
  3. Regularly evaluate student progress.
  4. Participate in the Faculty Performance Management System.
  5. Achieve at least a 3.5 rating in student evaluations and satisfactory peer/supervisor evaluations.
Student Advisement
  1. Work with Student Services in student recruitment, admission, and retention, utilizing counseling services as needed.
  2. Maintain records of advisees following institutional policies.
  3. Support students' academic achievement.
  4. Maintain office hours for student and faculty interaction.
Professional Development
  1. Represent the School of Health Sciences at community and professional meetings.
  2. Attend relevant professional conferences.
  3. Stay updated on educational innovations in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  4. Complete required professional development as per NAACLS standards.
College/Community Service
  1. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, including NAACLS.
  2. Serve as liaison with accreditation bodies.
  3. Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
  4. Engage with professional and community organizations.
  5. Serve on college committees and participate in marketing efforts.
  6. Collaborate with faculty and departments to meet educational needs.
Instructional Management
  1. Manage facilities and supplies effectively.
  2. Prepare reports for planning and accreditation.
  3. Develop and enforce student regulations.
  4. Communicate policies and campus information clearly.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  6. Maintain standards for accreditation.
  7. Approve purchase requests and oversee class scheduling.
  8. Prepare budgets in coordination with the Dean.

Minimum Qualifications: An earned master's or doctoral degree, ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist, three years of teaching experience, knowledge of educational methods and administration, and current NAACLS accreditation procedures.
